Wow, teaching and learning overseas has been a fantastic experience. I have met so many great people, done so many new things and blogged in many different ways. Semester 2 looks like being another great discovery time for me. I have found a new type of blog. Perfect for teachers. A blog where you can set up your own classes inside the teacher blog and really take control – is this to good to be true? We shall soon find out – check out our semester 2 blog at http://classblogmeister.com/blog.php?blogger_id=97161.
We go on Summer Vacation from 19th July until the 20th Aug.
Our students hope to make some digital stories or mini movies but first we must look at file size and type to make sure we can upload our movies to our blogs. Here is a mini movie about Science Day, both of these files are the same movie but they are of different quality:
scienceday-low.wmv (673KB)
science-day-high.wmv (higher quality – 1951KB)
These digital stories were made using windows movie maker but the file size was 7,500KB when we saved it in movie maker. This file size is too large to upload to our blog hence we needed to use another program to lower the file size. The program we used is freeware and simple to use. It is called “Stoik Video Converter 2.1″ http://www.stoik.com/downloads/.
Students at Uijeongbu are invovled in some amazing things. You can get to know my students by clicking on one of my classes on the RHS (Emus, Kangaroos, Koalas, Platypus or Wombats). My classes will be trialing sound and video over the next couple of months and we hope to run a digital stories project in September. If you would like to be part of our digital stories project the please leave a comment at this post. We will first test different formats of sound and video on our blogs to help us get started. Looking forward to working with other classes around the world.
